God Edifies and Gives Growth

The 2nd European Congress of the Worldwide Missionary Movement took place in Madrid, the capital city of Spain. The Work of Jesus Christ gathered more than 5000 believers from the five continents at the feet of the Lord from August 10th – 14th. The spiritual feast, held at the facilities of the Marriott Auditorium Hotel, was led by the international board members of the WMM and it became the most important international event for the work in Europe.

Under the theme, “Edifying for the Kingdom of God with Uprightness,” this event of the Worldwide Missionary Movement opened on the evening of August 10th with a service which emphasized the power of God and the purposes that Jesus Christ has for each one of his followers. Based on 1 Corinthians 3:1-9, Rev. Gustavo Martínez, international president of the WMM, preached the Word of God and highlighted that “neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”

On the second day, in the morning, Rev. Rubén Concepción, international secretary of the WMM, shared the good news of Jesus Christ through a message entitled, “The Character of the Builder,” in which he stated that we “must imitate the Lord’s attributes.” Hours later, in the evening, Rev. José Arturo Soto, international vice-president, shared a message with the people of God entitled, “The Judgement of Our Work,” which was based on 1 Corinthians 3:7-15. A day later, starting the third day of the 2nd European Congress of the WMM, Rev. Humberto Henao, international trustee of the Worldwide Missionary Movement, unveiled a message based on 1 Corinthians 3:10 and Hebrews 1:10. In his intervention, Pastor Henao said that “God needs churches with a good foundation.” After that, in the evening service, Rev. Rodolfo González, international treasurer, spread the gospel of the Lord with a preaching entitled, “The Foundation of Our Faith.”

In the beginning of the second-to-last day of this spiritual event, the special service for pastors was held. The service for the training of missionaries and servants of God was opened by Rev. Gustavo Martínez, who disclosed the theme, “Leadership Is a Place of Honor.” In his preaching, based on 1 Timothy 3:8-16, the president of the Work, emphasized that the leader must be an example in word, behavior, love, spirit, faith, and purity. After this, Rev. Margaro Figueroa, international trustee, preached with Biblical basis on Luke 15:28-33.

During the disclosure of the message entitled, “The Cost of a Good Edification,” Pastor Figueroa claimed that “the Christian person must be a guardian of God’s Work.” Later, in the evening service, Rev. Rómulo Vergara, international trustee, shared the message, “Filled with the Holy Spirit to Edify the Kingdom,” based on Acts 1:8.

The 2nd European Congress of the Worldwide Missionary Movement ended with a service in which a missionary march was carried out. Its highest moment was the participation of Rev. Alvaro Garavito, international trustee, who preached a message structured on 1 Corinthians 3:11-14, “Edifying Uprightly to Not Lose the Vision.” Thus, the spiritual feast of the Work ended, which from Spain drew the attention of thousands of Christian people throughout the whole world thanks to the broadcast of Bethel Television.

The Function of the Master builder

Today we have enjoyed the presence of God. With praise and worship we have surrendered our lives to Christ, feeling his precious Holy Spirit giving consolation and strength to our soul. In this fourth service, Rev. Humberto Henao made known the message from heaven, under the title, "The Function of the Master builder," citing Hebrews 11:10.

The doctrine is the spinal cord of any church, as it is the knowledge of the norms that govern a congregation, and no one has the right to impose his personal criteria and change it. Pride creates imbalance in a believer and affects his communion with Christ, so no matter what the Lord puts in our lives, we should not lose our verticality because God wants to maintain His Church firm and sound.

If earthly blessings ruin your relationship with God, God will not be able to continue fulfilling the project He has for your life. It is necessary to correct those areas. It is necessary to correct those internal, personal areas that do not contribute to our spiritual growth.

The 2nd European Congress in Madrid began with the singing of the national hymn of Spain and the official hymn of the Worldwide Missionary Movement. The hosts of the event, Rev. Jose Arturo Soto, international vice president and supervisor of Europe, alongside Rev. Carlos Medina, supervisor of Spain, initiated the activity this Wednesday, August 10th, in the Marriott Hotel Auditorium.

In the inaugural act, Rev. Gustavo Martinez, international president of the WMM stated, “Christ lives and to His name be glory.” Later, he greeted the attendees and each of the international board members. Afterwards, he named the national supervisors who were present and are laboring in the different countries of the world.

Firstly, in a didactic introduction, the director of the work highlighted the role that Europe plays in the expansion of the gospel unto all the world. Rev. Martinez remembered renown preachers who were promoters of great revivals that shook the world in past centuries.

In a spontaneous manner, he underlined, “Current times cannot impede that God return blessing and restoration unto the Old Continent.” In the biblical passage, 1 Corinthians 3:1-10, the reflection of the first message was delivered by Rev. Martinez.

There are clear rules and regulations to edify the kingdom of God. In this labor, one should firstly rely on the direction of Holy Spirit of God. One cannot and should not do things in accordance to human reasoning.

In accordance with the ideas of men or the philosophies of this world is not the way to labor in the work of God. The Word of God exists for the ministry of preaching to be done in a correct way. The Word transforms the minds of men and connects it with God. It transmits saving faith and brings the person to recognize their vile manner and consequently, to a profound conviction of their condition.

The Character of the Edifier

Reverend Ruben Concepcion, international secretary of the Worldwide Missionary Movement, was the spokesperson of the message during the second day of congress.

The characteristics of the WMM are related to the Pentecost registered in the Holy Scriptures. For Rev. Concepcion, “It is an honor to be a member of a work with fruits because someone planted the good seed. We are edifying; we are a great family, but we have to take into account the character of the edifier,” he said.

The believer’s duty is to acknowledge that there is a theological framework that allows him to identify God’s character. The Bible demonstrates that the man has been made conformed to the image of God according to Genesis. It is a unique and exclusive design. Therefore, God’s character was transmitted to the man by the Creator. From the points indicated in the sermon, he discussed about uprightness, essential characteristic in Christian life since God is righteous in every sense of the word; compassion, an attribute that should lead the man to be compassionate to his fellow human beings; and love, seal of God’s nature, etc. These are qualities of the character of the Lord.

“We should allow the Lord to work in us spiritually; we should seek that the Holy Spirit help us to bear fruits worthy of true repentance, which contributes to the building up of the Kingdom of Christ,” stated the secretary, at the auditorium.

The 2nd European Congress continues in languages such as French, Italian, English, and Spanish. The mercy of the Lord has allowed this event to reach different places where the work has been established. This does not mean that each one may edify at his own discretion. The vision of founder Luis M. Ortiz of holding events such as conventions and congresses was a revelation from God to edify the church correctly.

The character of the edifier requires a life of profound prayer so that God externalizes through the testimony given to those who are around us. The Word of God cannot be absent from the daily life of the believer because it reveals the will of God. The formation process of a Christian requires progressive approaching to the teachings of Christ, as indicated by the text in Ephesians 4: 1 – 16. The WMM is a design of God and is the product of the prayers of men and women who depend on the presence of the Lord.

They are people that have understood that, in order to edify, they must stay on their knees. “When the believer is aware of his character, it is a sign that Christ is shaping his personality, because those who come behind will keep edifying with love, with patience, and with mercy, according to the Word of God (…) the first men of the work gave themselves with all their heart because they were men formed with the character of Christ,” he emphasized.

Greetings from Rev. Sam Jacob

“Greetings from India. We have more than 300 churches in our nation; I greet all of you on behalf of our Worldwide Missionary Movement pastors in this country," said our beloved supervisor of India.

India is a great nation where there are hundreds of languages and 13 of them are the most important ones. There are also different cultures and each state is different, but by the grace of God, the Worldwide Missionary Movement is moving forward.

The Worldwide Missionary Movement is already registered in 10 states of India. It is also reaching the neighboring countries by spreading the good news of salvation where our Savior is doing great things.

In India there were missionaries who played an important part in the spreading of the gospsel, as well as the Europeans who educated and took the Biblical culture to India, correctly teaching the Word of God, teaching men to dress as men and women to dress as women.
“Ths is not a movement of human beings or of an organization, it is a movement of the Holy Spirit. No government can detain it. The government wants Christian organizations to be closed down but, by the mercy of God, we received the good news that the registration of the work of the Worldwide Missionary Movement was renewed for 5 years. We were praying and fasting, seeking God and depending on Him," concluded Rev. Sam Jacob.

The VI National Convention of the Worldwide Missionary Movement in Italy was held under the theme, “In Defense of the Family.” With the help and support of the Lord, delegations from all over Europe, Israel, the United States, and brethren and pastors from the different churches of the WMM in Italy participated.

Rev. Jose Arturo Soto Benavides, international vice president of the WMM, shared the biblical message with the subject: “Results of an Elevated Privilege,” sustained by 2 Timothy 4:1-4. The biblical dissertation asserted that the duty of the children of God is to maintain ourselves prepared for any unexpected attack of the enemy; to keep on our armor, without slacking on our consecration to the Lord. Otherwise, our slack would cause heresies, divisions, and “modernism” in the church.

In the second service of the VI National Convention of Italy on Friday August 14th in Villa Imperiale, Corso Perrone 20, Genoa, the Lord filled the attendees with His glory. Rev. Arturo Hernandez, supervisor of the WMM in the USA, put forth the message of God with the subject: “The Demands of a Glorious Future,” sustained by Genesis 49:1-4. As the message developed, he urged believers to appreciate the privileges that the Lord has put in our hands; but the development of these privileges depends on us for the advance of His work. In order to maintain these privileges, sacrifice is required, “Paying the Price” without slacking, without conforming, or feeling superior, allowing pride and haughtiness to enter our heart. The lives of the believers were broken by the presence of the Lord and His word at the end of this service.

In the evening, Rev. Gustavo Martinez Garavito, international president of the WMM, was the conveyor of the biblical teaching with the subject: “Be Ready to Act in this Strategic Time in Which God Has Placed Us,” based on Esther 4:13-17. The young woman, Esther, came to the palace of the king without knowing the purpose that the Lord had for her life. In those moments of crisis which the Jewish people were going through, she was able to discover the purpose of God for her life. Humanity is in a critical moment and we should be ready to act in this strategic time in which God has called us, and like Esther, be able to say: “If I perish, I perish.” We must leave aside our commodities and render our lives to God’s service, surrendering to Him our youth, health, and capabilities.

On a rainy morning, the 4th service of the VI National Convention of Italy was held. Sister Maria del Carmen Valencia Martinez shared the Word of God with the subject: “The Power of Thought,” biblically sustained by Proverbs 23:7. During this message, she illustrated the power and influence of thoughts on our lives. God gave man a perfect and pure mind which has been contaminated by the enemy through sin, using diabolical means to make humanity his slaves because he knows that God has commanded us to love Him with all of our minds. The enemy of our soul attacks our minds, trying to question the authority of God, placing doubts in our hearts, knowing that this impedes His promises from being fulfilled. He also tries to enter our minds with carnal thoughts full of immorality; and thoughts of guilt over errors of the past. But only the power of God and His Holy Spirit will help us to combat against each wile of the devil. That is why we have to affirm ourselves in His Word and trust in His promises without letting those attacks have an effect in us.

With participation of the different choirs of the churches of the WMM of Italy, the fifth service of this spiritual event was held. Rev. Rodolfo Gonzalez Cruz, international treasurer of the WMM put forth the biblical message sustained by Isaiah 1:1-20. In the biblical dissertation, he spoke of the great blessings that God has granted unto His church through technology and means of communication, which allow for the gospel of salvation to be diffused. The gospel of salvation is reaching many parts of the world, making the difference amongst the innumerable existent religions and the real and transforming gospel of Jesus Christ, which transforms the lives of thousands of families, liberates the bound, and heals many

infirmities. Many of us are witnesses of the glory of God. The presence of the Lord descended in a powerful way, ministering unto the lives of the attendees.

In the last service of this important event, Rev. Carlos Medina, supervisor of the WMM in Spain and supervisor of Block A in Europe, preached the Word of God under the subject: “The Danger of a Family Without Spiritual Vision,” inspired by Genesis 13:10-11. In the biblical exposition, he took Lot as an example, showing how he sought after his material well-being, and how his family ended totally apart from God; therefore, Rev. medina urged the people of the Lord to visualize our families rendered to God’s service, making an effort to ensure that each member of our family grows, and that no offer of the enemy be able to part it from the purposes of God.

This event finalized with the Promotion of Laborers and Pastors, who will continue through the preaching of the gospel, reaching souls for the kingdom of God, which indicates the continuance of growth of the work in Italy.
